Demand grows 5.81% in 2014
Offer also had high, reaching 0.94% in the period
Brasilia, January 28, 2015 – The demand (paid-km passengers transported – RPK) Domestic air passenger traffic increased by 7.5% in December 2014 compared with the same month in 2013, while supply (seats -kilometers offered – ASK) increased 5.2% in the same period. With the result of December 2014, domestic demand completed 15 consecutive months of expansion and obtained its highest level for the month in the last ten years. The domestic supply presented the fourth consecutive month of growth and also had the highest value for December in the last ten years. With the December result, domestic demand accumulated a 5.81% in the year and the offer has accumulated increase of 0.94% in the same period.
Among the majors Brazilian airline, Avianca and Gol stood out with the highest growth rates of domestic demand in December 2014 compared to the same month of 2013, amounting to 21.6% and 10.2%, respectively . The Blue grew by 7.1% and 4.4% Tam. Taken together the demands of Blue and Trip, whose operations were unified, recorded – an increase of 2.8% in domestic demand in the same period.
Gol and Tam continues to lead the domestic market in December 2014 with participation (RPK) of 38.1% and 36.7%, respectively. The participation of other companies added was 25.1%, which represented an increase of 0.7% compared to December 2013.
The aircraft utilization rate on domestic flights operated by Brazilian companies (RPK / ASK) was a record for the month of December in the last ten years, around 80.8%. With this monthly result, the indicator improved by 2.2% compared to the same month of 2013.
The number of paid passengers carried in the domestic market in December 2014 reached 8.9 million, was the largest for the month in the last 10 years, an increase of 6.1% compared to December 2013. The number of paid passengers transported in the domestic market has recorded positive growth for 15 consecutive months, when compared to the same month last year. From January to December 2014, the number of passengers accumulated growth of 6.6% over the same period last year. From January to December, Gol was the company that carried more passengers in the domestic market in December 2014 with 3.42 million, followed by Tam, with 2.91 million, and the Blue, with 1.79 million.
During the year 2014, in the months from January to September, it is observed that air transport grew every month, compared to the same month last year, while the number of road transport passengers grew in April and August. The cumulative result is a 6.7% increase in the number of interstate passengers when traveling by air against a reduction of 7.9% of the same indicator in road transportation.
In December 2014, the demand (RPK) of international air transport of Brazilian airlines passengers grew for the tenth consecutive month, an increase of 11.3% in December 2014 compared with the same month of 2013. On the other international supply (ASK) recorded the fifth consecutive month of growth, up 9.7% compared to December 2013. From January to December 2014, international demand increased 4.9% over the same period in 2013. The international supply fell by 1.6% in the same comparison. Both the demand and supply were the international record for the month of December in the last ten years.
The aircraft utilization rate in international passenger flights operated by Brazilian companies (RPK / ASK) reached 81.0% in December 2014, against 79.9% in the same month of 2013, representing an increase of 1.4% . This was the 15th consecutive month of increase in the indicator, which reached its highest level for the month of December in the last ten years. From January to December 2014, the international utilization was 82.5%, compared to 77.3% in the same period of 2013, representing an increase of 6.6%.
The number of paid passengers carried in the international market in December 2014 reached 583.0000, an increase of 12.9% compared to December 2013. This is the largest amount of passengers on international flights by Brazilian companies registered for the month in the last ten years. With the result of December 2014, the indicator completed nine consecutive months of growth. From January to December 2014 the number of passengers transported accumulated increase of 5.7% over the same period last year.
